A lawyer specializing in corporate, product and financial-market law, Olivier Girardeau is Director of Sustainable Finance and International Affairs at the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) where he plays a key role in ensuring that Québec maintains a financial sector that is dynamic, operates with integrity and warrants public trust. He leads by a team responsible for developing the regulatory framework for, and monitoring compliance with, obligations regarding disclosure of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues by public companies and the offering of investment products related to ESG factors in addition to ensuring the AMF's international positioning, influence and influence.
He has had the opportunity to develop a unique perspective on, and a comprehensive understanding of, best practices in governance, the social and environmental responsibility of organizations and the role of the financial sector in the transition to a more sustainable economy and the relevance of sharing expertise and partnerships at international level.
Community engagement
In addition to focusing on urban planning, mobility and reduction of travel-related GHGs, he takes a keen interest in the defense and promotion of public rights and freedoms and has, therefore, served on the boards of the Conseil de presse du Québec, the Institut du Nouveau Monde and Clinique Juste, a pro bono legal clinic (formerly NOVAlex). He is also Governor for the Next Generation within the Quebec Bar Foundation.
